🌻 Immserse yourself on a transformative pilgrimage to the captivating Langtang Valley, nestled near Kathmandu.
Though now gaining popularity as a trekking destination, this valley holds a hidden gem – the trails of yogic pilgrimage less traveled by both trekkers and spiritual seekers.
In the days before the trekking industry took hold, Langtang Valley drew shamans, yogis, monks, and devotees seeking spiritual elevation. Their footsteps echo through the mountain passes, cultural villages, and meditation grounds associated with Shiva and the ancient yogic practices of Sanatana Dharma.
The pilgrimage holds sacred significance, leading participants to glacier lakes believed to have sprung from Shiva's trident. The waters are said to possess magical powers, facilitating a connection with higher consciousness.
Each year, practitioners embark on this sacred journey to express gratitude and tap into the mysterious energy that permeates the valley.
First, we must remember that on this journey, we are Sadhakas (practitioners), and our journey is a Sadhana (mindful practice). Every act we undertake during this Retreat will be a conscious act, grounded in Yogic discipline. In other words, we will lead an Ashram (Yogic) lifestyle. Non-violence will be our top priority.
Each day, we will rise early, practice our Yogic Nitya Karma, meditate, and align ourselves with the ancient methods of traditional Hatha Yoga, designed to increase our flow of Kundalini energy.
This Pilgrimage Retreat focuses on returning to our roots, (Prakriti,Nature) Shakti. Through her guidance, we achieve the stillness necessary to realize Shiva, the consciousness.
It is a journey toward the union of Shiva and Shakti through the practice of awareness & mindfulness.
The Sankhya philosophy of Yogic culture will be an integral part of our daily routine.
Shiva Sutra
Our immersion begins as we hike through the dense forest of Langtang National Park, the first Himalayan national park. Known for rare animals like the Himalayan red panda,
its serene beauty, breathtaking sky-touching peaks, dense forests, and diverse flora and fauna, the park offers a mesmerizing experience.
As yogic practices are rooted in non-violence, this trail through the national park, where wildlife and herbs are protected, invites us to walk consciously, leaving no footprints and disturbing no life.
Pilgrimage trails here are lesser-known to tourists, making them less crowded and less touristic compared to other parts of the country. As pilgrims, we are surrounded by the beauty of Rhododendron flowers, ancient woodlands, and the breathtaking view of the valley on our side.
This area boasts 108 glacier lakes, among which we will be visiting 10 lakes connected with the history of Sanatana Dharma and serving as pilgrimage destinations for seekers.
Just as milk churns into yogurt and then into ghee, symbolizing a progression from simplicity to richness, the mythological tale of Samudra Manthan reflects this transformative journey.
During Samudra Manthan, when the ocean was churned by Gods and Demons, the Devas obtained the nectar of immortality, but also with nectar poison was also formed which Lord Shiva consumed to save the world, then he walked his journey through the himalayas to lower the heat and effect of the poison.
Legend has it that Shiva's journey through the Himalayas led to the creation of glacier lakes, one of which draws millions of pilgrims seeking spiritual healing and karmic cleansing.
The water here is believed to possess magical properties. Our destination mirrors this sacred site, offering an opportunity to engage in the yogic practice of mind churning—a transformative sadhana deeply rooted in our tradition.
Just like the oldest traditions, the culture in this region is influenced by animism and shamanism. The area features a mix of Hindu and Buddhist cultures.
As you pass through Sherpa settlements and villages with local Tamang ethnics, you will be warmly welcomed with open hearts and smiles.
We will visit their sacred places, learn their indigenous ways of connecting with the spirit, and engage with their local community, respecting their ancient traditions as we go.
Beyuls are sacred hidden valleys in Tibetan Buddhism, believed to be sanctuaries created by Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) as places of refuge and spiritual practice.
These valleys are said to be infused with spiritual energy and natural beauty, providing an environment for those seeking enlightenment and peace.
We will walk through the spots mentioned in Yogic and Tibetan Scriptures, following in the footsteps of Yogi Milarepa and the first Yogi, Shiva, learning from their teachings and applying them to our daily lives.
This pilgrimage is more than just a journey through breathtaking landscapes, it's a transformative retreat focusing on personal and spiritual growth.
We will need at least 5-7 days to do this pilgrimage, but I have also taken serious practitioners for a month of sadhana (spiritual practice). Pilgrimages are highly personal and I tailor them to the pilgrim (you!).
